ALLERGAN’s breast implant innovations
Cohesive silicone gel
Although silicone breast implants have been successfully used since the early 1960s, ALLERGAN Breast Implants were the first to use safer, more advanced cohesive silicone gel. Cohesive gel filler has a thick consistency, rather like a jelly. Unlike implants with traditional silicone filler, cohesive silicone gel does not spill or lose its shape in the unlikely event of a shell rupturing. For example, if a style 410 range implant is cut open into two halves, both halves maintain their shape and the silicone gel doesn’t run or spill out. So, ALLERGAN Breast Implants offer the look and natural feel of silicone and the lasting safety of cohesive gel.
ALLERGAN’s silicone gel technology is available in several varieties: responsive silicone gel; more pliable Soft Touch™ gel; cohesive gel, and a firm cohesive gel.
Patented INTRASHIEL™ Barrier Technology
ALLERGAN’s patented INTRASHIEL™ Barrier Technology is designed to minimise silicone gel diffusion and prevent the leakage that can occur with standard implants. INTRASHIEL™ Barrier Technology features multiple shell layers to reduce permeability, and a barrier layer designed to minimise the risk of gel diffusion.
Smooth or BIOCELL™ Texture
The surface of an implant can be either smooth or textured. ALLERGAN’s proprietary BIOCELL™ textured surface technology gives superior tissue adherence, which helps maintain proper implant position with the surgical pocket. Clinical data also suggests that ALLERGAN’s BIOCELL™ Texture is generally effective in reducing the incidence of a side effect called capsular contracture (learn about capsular contracture). Whether you and your surgeon choose textured or smooth implants, you won’t feel the texture or smoothness, as your own tissue will lie above the implant.

Round Implants
The NEW ALLERGAN INSPIRA™ Range
INSPIRA™ is a new ALLERGAN premium range of round implants, designed in response to feedback from surgeons. It offers a wide range of choice in sizes. Implants can be chosen by diameter and have the option of three projections, unlike other round implants, which can only be selected based on volume. This allows women and their surgeons to plan results tailored to their proportions for the results they want.
INSPIRA™ is available in both responsive silicone gel and Soft Touch™ silicone gel options. It also incorporates the proven features of the BioDIMENSIONAL™ Planning System, BIOCELL™ texturing, and INTRASHIEL™ barrier technology.
ALLERGAN’s CUI Implants
The CUI range is a more standard, round implant. They are available with the INTRASHIEL™ barrier technology, with textured or smooth surface options and responsive cohesive silicone gel. The CUI range is manufactured under the same high standards as all ALLERGAN Breast Implants; however, they don’t have the same advanced technology in terms of feel and touch, the extensive variety of sizes, or the warranty available in the full range.
Anatomical Implants
The ALLERGAN Style 410 range
The ALLERGAN Style 410 range of breast implants offers women a variety of options. With their surgeons, women can discuss whether cohesive silicone gel is best for them or whether the 410 Soft Touch™ option, featuring more pliable Soft Touch™ gel, is the right choice.
Every implant in the ALLERGAN Style 410 and 410 Soft Touch™ range is anatomically shaped, mirroring the natural appearance and feel of the breast. With their surgeon’s guidance, women can choose from 230 different combinations of height, width, and projection for a look and natural shape customised to their unique proportions, body type, and desires.
A clinical study of ALLERGAN’s Style 410 tracked women’s satisfaction with the results of their breast enhancement procedure. The women reported improvement in body perception (95 percent), self-esteem (89 percent), feeling of wearing clothes (99 percent), personal charisma (85 percent), attractiveness (87 percent), and personal life (75 percent). Ninety-six percent of the women reported feeling more feminine and 97 percent said that having the procedure had been advantageous.
The ALLERGAN Style 510 Dual Gel range
The ALLERGAN Style 510 Dual Gel range combines a high cohesive silicone gel backing for a soft, natural shape and feel, with a firm cohesive gel ‘cap’ that provides shape, support, and superior projection. Style 510 implants are shaped to fit the chest wall better—especially beneficial for women with less tissue coverage or who are undergoing breast reconstructive surgery.
The ALLERGAN Style 510 Dual Gel is also shaped so that it’s less likely that a patient with thin tissue coverage will feel the edges of the implant. This implant is available in 39 different sizes. This particular implant has benefits for certain breast augmentations.
